Sustainability

Candy Factory is committed to Angola, its economy, our partners, the environment, our human resources and the community, in order to ensure its sustainability and the resulting positive, structured and decisive impact on each of these variables.
Being inspired, creative, curious and open minded.
Environmental Commitment
Our strategy for sustainable development is linked to a policy of environmental protection and respect for our natural resources.
Since the beginning of this project, we have been concerned with operating in accordance with the best sustainability practices, namely with regard to environmental impact. The equipment chosen for setting up our factory (German, French and Dutch state-of-the-art technology) allows us to have:
- High levels of energy efficiency;
- Considerable mitigation of wasted resources; leading to,
- A reduced carbon footprint with low CO2 levels.
Economic Commitment
Our commitment to the confectionery sector promotes the diversification of the Angolan economy, by contributing to the emergence and growth of a new national industry, and to the reduction of the need to import sweets (bubble gums, candies and lollipops), which currently is around 15,000 tons per year.
Additionally, Candy Factory’s strategy also contemplates strong partnerships with its stakeholders and national producers, who are able to meet the needs in terms of raw materials, packaging, distribution, audiovisual production and branded materials, as well as other services, whenever possible. Our aim is to give the greatest and most transversal contribution to Angola’s economic dynamics.
Our new plant in the ZEE is one of the first and main ones in Angola to operate in the confectionery sector and we intend that this is just a first step towards building a consistent, sustainable sector, and that this investment is a clear reason of pride for Angola, nationally and internationally wise.
Commitment to Human Capital
The continuous hiring and training of Angolan human resources and the strategy outlined to develop this project in a responsible and sustainable way, for the country and its communities, are relevant and indivisible parts of our DNA and of our vision of growth and progress.

For the first two years of Candy Factory start-up, we are estimating around 150 employees, in fixed jobs, dedicated to the Candy Factory, of which more than 90% are national employees. In gross numbers, Candy Factory expects that in the first two years more than 350 direct and indirect jobs will be created.
Training and career progression:
We consider essential to guarantee the process of training and continuous developing of our human resources, this is a central part of our social responsibility program. For this purpose, the Candy Factory Academy has a broad and multidisciplinary Internal Training Program, in a Learning Organization environment, which covers, both technically and in terms of soft skills, several different areas, ranging from Industry to Marketing and Sales.
Commitment to the Community
We are not only committed to entering into partnerships with national producers and companies – in order to obtain raw materials, whenever possible – as well as to give back to the closest communities, through differentiated initiatives, training and developing business for the ones involved. Additionally, our brands intent to have an active, pedagogical and dynamic voice among the youngest and most needy communities as well.
